Coding Support and CPD for Schools

coding support for primary schools

Building Confidence and Progression in Coding

Teaching coding can be one of the most exciting — and sometimes daunting — parts of the computing curriculum. We provide hands-on support and CPD for teachers to help schools deliver engaging, progressive coding lessons that align with the Teach Computing Curriculum.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your staff’s understanding of computational thinking and pedagogy, we’ll work alongside you to build confidence, skills, and sustainable classroom practice.

Practical Support for Classroom Teachers

We know that many schools already have coding hardware and resources but aren’t always sure where to begin. That’s where we come in.

Our team can:

  • Co-plan and team-teach your first coding lessons to build staff confidence

  • Deliver staff CPD focused on progression, assessment and effective pedagogy

  • Introduce apps and platforms that support coding at every key stage

  • Model effective teaching strategies such as PRIMM (Predict, Run, Investigate, Modify, Make) and Paired Programming

This approach means your teachers learn through doing — seeing real examples of what good coding lessons look like in your classrooms, with your learners.

We’re Experts in the Teach Computing Curriculum

As Lead Facilitators for the Teach Computing Curriculum, we’re ideally placed to help you interpret and implement its coding strands. We break down complex ideas into accessible, classroom-ready approaches — helping staff understand why concepts are taught, not just what to teach.

Our goal is to help you develop a clear progression pathway in coding, ensuring pupils build skills systematically from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3.

Introducing Coding Hardware — Made Simple

We also help schools make the most of their coding hardware and robots, supporting teachers who want to move from theory to practice. We’ll provide exemplar lessons using devices like Crumbles and Micro:bits, showing how to introduce physical computing in engaging, achievable ways.

Our team can also advise on the best platforms for your context — whether you have iPads, Chromebooks or Windows devices — and ensure everything is matched to the age and experience level of your learners.

Below are some of the tools and robots we can help you use effectively in the classroom:

Coding Tools and Robots We Use

We’ve invested in robots and other coding hardware so you don’t have to so you can book us to deliver exemplar lessons with our coding hardware. Here are some of the things we have to support teaching coding.

Sphero Spark

A programmable robotic ball that teaches coding through movement, light, and sound. Ideal for KS2 and KS3, Sphero Spark helps students visualise code through hands-on challenges, building logical thinking and debugging skills.

 Sphero Indi

Designed for younger learners (KS1), Sphero Indi uses coloured cards to introduce early computational thinking concepts like sequencing and problem-solving — perfect for schools taking their first steps into coding.

BBC Micro:bit

A pocket-sized programmable computer that’s fantastic for physical computing. With sensors, LEDs and inputs, the Micro:bit helps pupils understand how code interacts with real-world data — supporting progression into text-based programming.

Crumble Controller

A simple, low-cost way to teach physical computing. Crumbles connect to motors, lights and sensors, helping pupils apply their coding skills in practical design and technology contexts.

Scotty Go!

A hybrid of coding cards and digital gameplay, Scotty Go! teaches block-based programming concepts through an interactive app. It’s perfect for KS2 learners and promotes teamwork and problem-solving.

SAM Labs

Wireless coding kits that allow students to build and program systems using intuitive block coding. SAM Labs links digital coding to real-world applications, ideal for STEM projects and cross-curricular work.

Mebots

Interactive robots that introduce coding, movement and robotics to younger pupils in an engaging, hands-on way. Mebotsare great for developing sequencing and debugging skills in EYFS and KS1.

Bee-Bots

The classic early-years coding robot. Bee-Bots help children learn directional language, sequencing, and basic programming through play — the perfect foundation for progression into more complex coding concepts.

Supporting Schools Every Step of the Way

From whole-school coding CPD to classroom coaching and curriculum development, we’ll help your staff feel confident, supported and inspired.

Our friendly, collaborative approach means we can team-teach, mentor and advise, ensuring teachers feel comfortable taking those first steps into coding and robotics.
