I recently had the pleasure of working with the brilliant Year 5 Podcast Tech Team at Fulwell Junior School, helping them get to grips with their brand-new podcasting equipment. Their enthusiasm was infectious—they came brimming with creative ideas for their own shows and couldn’t wait to get started.
During the training, we explored how to speak clearly and confidently on the microphone, how to edit recordings to remove mistakes, and how to add music and sound effects to bring their episodes to life.
Podcasting is a fantastic way to develop pupils’ speaking and listening skills. It gives learners a real purpose for communication, encourages collaboration, and builds confidence—all while having fun. I challenged the team to produce shows that could be played in the dining hall at lunchtime. I can’t wait to hear what they come up with!
